Step Forward: SR 99 Grand Opening

February 2, 2019 7:30 am

Starting on January 11th, SR 99 will be closed for 3-weeks while the new SR 99 tunnel is completed.  On February 2nd and 3rd a grand opening will take place on SR 99 to celebrate the new tunnel!  The grand opening will celebrate the past, present and future of Seattle’s waterfront.  With this theme in mind, the festival and programming will likely include the following elements:

-A reflection on the past, including an art festival on the viaduct

-A celebration of the present, represented by the opening of the new SR 99 tunnel, highlighting STEM and the people who contributed to the program

-A look ahead to the future, featuring highlights of the City’s plans for the waterfront
