Emissions are coming to an end! Put that in your tail pipe!

If you’re scheduled for a test in 2019, you’ll be doing your last emissions test ever in Washington State. Emissions testing is coming to an end in Washington State coming January 1st of 2020. The Washington State Department of  Ecology put out this statement regarding the new changes.

“After 38 years, Washington’s emission check program will end Jan. 1, 2020. After this time, vehicle owners will no longer be required to have their vehicle’s emissions tested before renewing their registration. Vehicles scheduled for testing in 2019 still need an emission test before they can renew their tabs.”

It’s understandable to why this is ending:  in this modern age of cars and technology, it’s unlikely to see cars fail the emissions testing and it’s only adding to the cost of car tabs renewal in Washington state, that saw a spike in price after the 2018 election.

About Ryder

Born and raised in Washington and I’m proud to call this place my home. I grew up dragging brush for my dad's tree service while listening to the radio. Those are some of my fondest memories as a kid. Being on a country radio station in Seattle is a chance to bring some of that joy to the greater Seattle area!
