Fitz in the Morning: Troop Salute

Adam Wheeler of the US Navy

The old advertisement for military service says “sign up and see the world”. This isn’t the leading recruitment slogan these days, but the offer definitely still stands. The sailor in this salute is serving his nation half way around the globe.  He is definitely seeing the world. Today we salute Petty Officer 3rd Class Adam Wheeler of the United States Navy. Adam graduated in 2006 from Kentwood High school in Kent, Washington, and that is a long way from where he’s living now! Petty Officer Wheeler is a builder in the Navy Mobile Construction Battalion 11, based out of Gulfport, Mississippi. But right now he is stationed in Guam at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Guam. The Navy’s construction battalions known as the Sea Bees, have served in all American Conflicts since 1942, and during peace time they use their construction skills to help communities around the world by aiding following hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. Wheeler says he’s made a lot of life-long friends in the Sea Bees and in the Navy in general. For his service to the nations, and for promoting the Navy and helping our services benefit all of humanity, today we salute Petty Officer 3rd Class Adam Wheeler of the United States Navy Sea Bees.
