Jim McArthur of the US Air Force and Army National Guard

There is no bigger hero to a little girl than her Daddy. Today’s Troop Salute is for a Daddy that is a hero to his daughter, to his grandkids, and to the rest of us. Today we salute Sergeant Jim McArthur of the United States Air Force AND The United States Army National Guard. Yes, Jim served in two of our nation’s military branches and he served for close to 15 years.  Amanda Doss is Jim’s very proud daughter and sent in this salute. “My dad is absolutely the BEST!” Amanda says. McArthur started his service in the Air force in 1983, serving up through 1987 where he attained the rank of Sergeant. After his time in the Air Force, Jim made the move to the National Guard to continue his service.  He spent more than 10 years in the National Guard, serving from 1987 to 1997. Sergeant McArthur was deployed to Desert Storm in 1990 when Amanda’s brother was born.  She remembers that her Daddy got to come home for 10 very special days to be with the family for the birth. Amanda says, “Now he is the best “Paw” ever”.  Jim picks up her three boys, Asher 7, Adler 5, and Ander 4, after school nearly every day and so continues his work as a hero and as a grandfather by making it possible for Amanda to work for the last 7 years by helping out with her boys. For being a hero to his little girl, and to his grandkids, and for his many years of service to the nation in two branches of the military, today we salute: Sergeant Jim McArthur of the United States Air Force, AND The Army National Guard.
