Thomas Logan of the United States Navy

The military is a lot of things to a lot of people.  But most probably don’t think of it as the place to achieve your dreams. But it is exactly that for today’s troop. Today we salute Lieutenant J.G. Thomas Logan of the United States Navy. Lieutenant Logan is a native of Kenmore, Washington and he always knew that he wanted to fly airplanes. He was majoring in Aviation Flight at college when he first spoke to a recruiter for the Navy. “It felt like a great fit for me, and it made too much sense for me to do it.”
Logan has been in the Navy for 4 years now, and he is living that dream. Lieutenant Logan serves with the “Screaming Eagles” Maritime Patrol Squadron VP-1 out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington. VP-1 is a high-tech reconnaissance squadron tasked with monitoring the world’s oceans from above, in the state-of-the-art P-8A Poseidon aircraft. “We do a lot with what is essentially an airliner that a lot of people can’t even imagine.” Logan says, “We took an airplane that was originally designed to be a commercial airliner and made it into a great platform for the Navy.” Logan didn’t just breeze through the training process.  Even for pilots, military training starts the same way as it does for everyone else. “I got hurt early on in flight school and I almost got kicked out of the program” he says, “I made it through, and the moment they pinned the wings on me was the biggest accomplishment in life.”
This Naval Aviator is living his dream and protecting our forces and our nation, and for this reason we salute Lieutenant J.G. Thomas Logan.
