Fitz in the Morning: Troop Salute

William Johnson and Scott Murray Jr.

The Troop Salute is your opportunity to honor the soldiers, sailors, Marines, and Airmen in your lives.
I want to hear all about the people you’re proud of because we’re all proud of them and grateful for their service. P1 Bailey Johnson is lucky enough to have two family members to salute here today.
Staff Sergeant William Johnson of the United States Air Force is Bailey’s husband.  He has been serving in the Air Force for 8 years, and he is just about to deploy on a mission. Her husband isn’t the only military man in Bailey’s life; she also wanted to thank her father, Staff Sergeant Scott Murray Jr. of the United States Army. Staff Sergeant Murray served his nation for the full 20 years and retired. That service included two tours in Afghanistan and several others. Bailey said, “My father came into my life when my mother and I needed him most.” “He makes me want to be a better person, always.” Once again we see from these examples how family members are not only proud of their military members, but they are also inspired by them every day. And that is why we salute them here. Today, saluting Staff Sergeant William Johnson of the United States Air Force and retired Staff Sergeant Scott Murray Jr. Of the United States Army.
