Steve Hurd of the US Marine Corps

There is an unmistakable link between our service men and women and our law enforcement community in America. So many times we receive salutes that tell us about a Soldier, Sailor, or Marine that is now working in Law Enforcement or went into the field after leaving the service. Today we salute Lance Corporal Steve Hurd of the United States Marine Corps. Steve was an MP for 4 years at Camp Pendleton in California way back in the day. His son Cory, who is our very own P1 Honey Bucket Corey, wrote in to ask me to salute his dad for his service to the nation as a Marine.  Corey also asked me to salute his dad for his service to our community back home, because Steve brought that MP training back from the Marine Corps and became a police officer in Olympia for 36 years! Corey was born just as his dad left the Marines, so he doesn’t remember that part of dad’s life, but he does remember being scared for his dad as an officer when he was a kid. Corey’s sister also followed dad into Law Enforcement by becoming a Washington State Patrol trooper. Corey wants everyone to know how much he appreciates his dad for his service and how much he appreciates his sister for her work as a State trooper, and for all of our men and women in uniform serving all of our communities. Today we salute Lance Corporal Steve Hurd of the United States Marine Corps

We live in the land of the free, because of the brave!
