Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have a date planned this Saturday night…and they want you to join them! The couple will be playing the Grand Ole Opry this weekend, helping the venerable weekly show continue its decades-old tradition even in the face of current events!
“During this time, they’ve been just having guys show up and do their thing,” Garth explained last night while “Inside Studio G” on Facebook as he revealed, “Me and Miss Yearwood – we’re going to be doing The Opry.”
The long-running show has kept its weekly broadcasts (dating back nearly 100 years) uninterrupted lately by hosting performers in an empty Opry House, with a barebones crew on-hand. And though The Opry may not currently be able to host the large and varied lineup it normally would, it sounds like Garth and Trisha may do their best to “cover” that gap.
Garth says, “I’m going to do some of the greatest country music on the planet for me. So, I’m sure there’s probably going to be some George Jones, there’s going to be some Randy Travis, some George Strait, Merle Haggard. And then you know The Queen – she’s going to sing some of the greatest stuff ever and it could all be her stuff, too. This is going to be a fun Saturday night right here.”
Garth and Trisha – both longstanding Opry members – are looking forward to taking the stage and bringing a little joy into our homes this Saturday. “Is it too soon to say maybe the cloud’s kind of clearing? Maybe?” Garth hoped aloud Monday evening while continuing to share his encouragement and support for all of us hunkered at home and those essential members of the community and workforce, too. “All my love to you and your family,” he says. “Nothing but safeness and health.”
