If I’m being honest, the major reason I got interested in the Grammy’s this year was because of the tragedy that occurred in Los Angeles earlier that day with Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and the seven others who passed away in that tragic helicopter crash. I wanted to see how they honored Kobe in the Staples Center. It’s the place that he had played basketball for 20 years as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. And I thought that feeling may have been shared with the country and the numbers would reflect that, but apparently not.
I do think they did a great job, Alicia Keys addressed it right at the beginning and brought out Boyz II Men to sing ‘It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday,’ which shouldn’t have left a dry eye in the building. And throughout the night there were many references and dedications to what had happened earlier that day.
The Grammy’s had just 18 million viewers compared to more than 19 million last year. Alicia Keys hosted the show for the second time. Did you watch the Grammy’s? And why or why not was that reason? I was interested for the honoring of those victims as well as the Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani performance, that was really it.
