Man Makes Christmas Trees Into Canes For Veterans

I just took my Christmas tree to the spot in the alley where it gets picked up, this idea, a whole lot better. James Willis, from Texas, discovered a way to help veterans and the environment.

He uses the scrap wood to make canes for veterans for free, its called Canes For Veterans Central Texas.

Willis himself served in the Army, but was disabled. About 4 years ago, he himself was looking for a cane and reached out to Free Canes for Veterans. He learned that the group was out of canes, but the leader, Oscar Morris, showed Willis how to make one…and off he went!

According to CNN, Willis is taking Christmas trees that are destined for the trash after the holidays, along with other wood picked up from his neighborhood, to create canes for those who really need them.

Merry Christmas Mr Boynton. Once a Marine always a Maine. I hope you enjoy the cane and it serves you well.

About Corey Dillon

I love dogs, have an average beard at best, and I was born and raised in the Northeast but couldn't be happier to make the PNW my new home. When I'm not in studio you can catch me playing golf or exploring the amazing trails Washington has to offer.
