Need a Refresher Before Avengers: Endgame?

It might seem daunting for someone to get into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) if they didn’t get in at the beginning with Iron Man back in 2008. After all, there are now 21 movies in the MCU prior to the release of Avengers: Endgame. If you need to catch up before the new movie, you need a refresher or you just want to try to set the world record for binge watching, you could watch all of the movies in the order they were released. However, I don’t think that’s necessarily the best way to do that.

Since some movies in the MCU take place in different time periods or run simultaneously with other films in the franchise, the timeline can be convoluted. So, for the sake of the MCU narrative, and just for the fun of having the overarching story presented in a different way, here’s how to watch the entire MCU in chronological order:

  1. Captain America: The First Avenger
  2. Captain Marvel
  3. Iron Man
  4. Iron Man 2
  5. The Incredible Hulk
  6. Thor
  7. The Avengers
  8. Iron Man 3
  9. Thor: The Dark World
  10. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  11. Guardians of the Galaxy
  12. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  13. Avengers: Age of Ultron
  14. Ant-Man
  15. Doctor Strange
  16. Captain America: Civil War
  17. Spider-Man: Homecoming
  18. Black Panther
  19. Thor: Ragnarok
  20. Ant-Man and the Wasp
  21. Avengers: Infinity War

The MCU is far and away the largest and most ambitious cinematic universe ever, and I can’t wait to see how the events of these 21 other movies wrap up in Avengers: Endgame.

About Keith Bolender

Hi I'm Keith! Western Washington born and raised! We are so lucky to get to call this beautiful part of the country our home. I grew up in a family full of musicians, so naturally I'm an extreme music addict and I'm always looking to discover new bands and new artists. Sports are a huge part of my life. I was always playing organized sports as a kid, and now if there's a Seahawks, Mariners, or WSU game on the TV I won't be far away. I share an apartment with my girlfriend and our two cats, Luna and Severus. Don't be fooled though, I'm a dog person at heart. Music, sports, and animals. That pretty much sums me up!
