Last week someone made a very good observation in my life (My Girlfriend) “You’ve lived here for 25 years and you’ve never been to an opening day game?” She had a point. I love Seattle and all the things about it but I’ve never gone out of my way to do the things that seem like they’re too good to be true. Even I had my eyes opened Friday night at the Mariners vs Red Sox game!
The energy was insane the place was packed and I felt like a ten year old living out a dream! Opening day in Seattle! Sure we didn’t walk away with the win but watching the Mariners play like they did gave me hope for this season and the future! Maybe it isn’t so bad we don’t know most of the starting line up. It looks like whatever formula the Mariners put together it’s working and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
After I got home it hit me… what else have I been missing out on?! Washington is a huge place and I’ve been around but I haven’t done my fair share of touristy stuff! So this weekend not only did i go to my first opening day game but i headed out to Fremont to check out the Sunday market with friends!
Not only was the market amazing but everything in between made it better! The people, the dogs, the food, the drinks, the sights! All of it was a complete blast and I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner.
The next stop was a burger joint I’ve been hearing about for a while now, Blue Moon Burgers in Fremont was just a few blocks over so we started our trek and made ourselves hungry! I’m just saying four blocks is enough to get my tummy rumbling.
As soon as we walked through the doors the smell of fresh fries and patty melts smacked me in the face and i was at the point where I couldn’t get the drool to stop pushing it’s way to the corner of my lips! We ordered right away and got our table to wait.
Something just hit me that I’ve lived here my entire life, it’s time I really saw Washington! So I’m kicking off Ryder’s Road Trips! Give me somewhere you think I should go and each weekend I’ll pick a place and make an adventure out of it!
