Seattle Squeeze Part Two: Bye Bye Bus Tunnel

So this’ll be somewhat of an adjustment for Downtown Drivers…

Starting Saturday March 23, seven King County Metro bus routes will shift from the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel up to surface streets to accommodate the Washington State Convention Center construction and future Link light rail expansion.

Metro says to keep buses and riders moving, the City of Seattle is establishing a new transit pathway on Fifth and Sixth Avenues and Metro and has established all-door boarding in the Third Avenue corridor and at stops along Westlake Avenue North.

But some good news: also starting Saturday Metro is adding some service to address crowding and reliability, expanding service in partnership with the City of Seattle, and make other changes across King County.
