TMSG: Couple & Their Dogs Rescued From Truck Hanging Over Bridge

Two Idaho residents found themselves in a terrifying situation along with their two dogs.

The couple’s pickup truck pulling a 30-foot camp trailer went off a bridge over a gorge’s deep canyon. The truck slid off the guardrail, tipping over the bridge with the camper still on the bridge, blocking both lanes. The safety chain, attached between the truck and camper, was the only thing keeping the truck from falling down into the gorge. The 67-year-old man and 64-year-old woman along with their two dogs were inside the truck at the time of the incident.

Amazingly, none of them suffered any serious injuries thanks to seatbelts keeping them secure. Crews were able to rappel down to the dangling pick up truck and get both humans and their two dogs to safety.

Captain David Neth credited his team’s quick response and preparation in the rescue. “This was a tremendous team effort that took a quick response and really showed the dedication and training of our community of first responders. This is something we train and prepare for, but when it happens and people’s lives literally hang in the balance, it takes everyone working together, and then some.”
