A 15-year-old deaf dog had fallen down a storm drain and was trapped for two days when an entire Texas community rallied together to save her.

Andrea Tankersley dog’s Zoey was lost and people all over her neighborhood kept hearing animal sounds. But it wasn’t in one location, it was all throughout the entire area. After two days, they finally discovered that Zoey was stuck in a drainage pipe. The Arlington Fire Department (AFD), police and paramedics all came out and worked around the clock to tear up the street to rescue the poor pup.

AFD released footage from the dramatic 10-hour rescue operation. In that video, rescue crews are seen tearing deep into the concrete until hitting the pipeline where Zoey was trapped. One of the firefighters suggested a skateboard could help them in getting the dog out of the actual pipe. Local kindergartner Hunter offered up his to help.

The rescue crew used the skateboard and were able to safely get Zoey out. She was caked in mud, and looked disoriented but happy to be saved. Officer Kristi Weill told WFFA, “Everyone has been so helpful. There have been cheers of joy, and tears when Zoey was rescued. I love seeing the community turn out and cheer a successful end to this.”
