According to CNBC, in 2012, Scotty Franklin of Springfield, Missouri took a pocket knife to a pair of old cowboy boots and wore them to a party as joke. But one man wouldn’t stop asking where to buy them.

The man offered up to $150 for the country fashion find.

Flash forward to 2015 when a tweet took the Redneck Boot Sandals viral. Videos on social media showing off the boot sandals quickly racked up millions of views on Facebook.

The interest sparked thousands of sales, with customers as far as Australia sending their cowboy boots to have them customized into boot sandals for $150.
